Applications are invited from the citizens of India for filling up the following temporary position for the sponsored project undertaken in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of this Institute. The position is temporary initially for a period of 1 Year and tenable only for the duration of the project. The requisite qualification & experience etc. are given below:  Project Code, Project Title & Funding Agency 15DSTID003 : “The candidate should at least be a First class Post Graduate (ME/MTech) in Mechanical / Metallurgical/Production Engineering from a recognised University / Institute with NET/GATE qualification and preferably with some industrial experience. Job Profile The job involves studying the effects of friction of an abrasive mixture of metallic powder and thermoplastic, with the feeding system and mould cavity of an injection mould. The job therefore involves design & development of the experimental setup, calling for skills in tool design and manufacture of the tools. The incumbent will perform experiments to study the effect of strain rate in the vicinity of frictional contact and the frictional force developed between the sample and the contacting surface of the tool. The incumbent will make samples from a mixture of metallic powder and thermoplastic, and also characterize the flow parameters of the mixture. The job therefore requires some experimental skills to take measurements of the frictional force and rheological properties of the mixture. Familiarity with the metal injection moulding process or powder metallurgy in general, will be an advantage in carrying out the design.
