About IITs:

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are the top engineering and research institutions in India that attract the brightest Indian talent in science and engineering. The IITs are governed by the Indian Institutes of Technology Act, 1961 which has declared them as “institutions of national importance.” They have a common admission process for undergraduate admissions, using the very selective Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE), which in 2011 had an acceptance rate of less than 1 in 50 (500,000 candidates and only 9,618 seats). The IIT’s Mandi campus is located in scenic hill town of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. Mandi provides an excellent vacation spot for those loving natural beauty and it experiences mild summers and cold winters. The city is just 2-3 hours before the Himalayan resort of Kullu and Manali in Himachal Pradesh, once considered “the end of the habitable world.” The location is in the lower Himalayan Mountains on the banks of river Beas. This is a full-time position for a fixed term of 24 months, with the possibility of extension for another year. For further information about the position, please contact Assistant Professor, Dr. Varun Dutt on telephone +91 – 1905 – 237917 or email
