Junior Research Fellow & More Vacancies

National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) is a key functionary of Indian Space Research Organization Striving to realize the Indian Space Vision through Earth Observation. It is responsible for the Ground Segment of Remote Sensing Programme through satellite data acquisition, archival, processing, dissemination, Remote Sensing Applications, Training and Capacity Building. It also provides Aerial services in the civilian Sector for the country. The Organization has four Regional Centres at Bangalore, Nagpur, Kolkata and Jodhpur toaddress region/area specific remote sensing application needs. The Earth Station located at Shadnagar, 65 kms from Hyderabad city is developed as a full fledged facility to carry out the entire chain of remote sensing activities. NRSC is continuously exploring avenues for practical use of Remote Sensing for societal applications through development of value added data products and services.

    • Desirable : ERDAS/IDL/QGIS Experience in image processing and classification of Remote Sensing data using image processing software like ERDASProgramming knowledge in ERDAS/IDL/QGIS

    • Desirable : Candidate with experience in systems hardware & OS/LAN/WAN/Network storage/ Backup/Security/Middleware will be preferred. Knowledge & experience in databases, object oriented programming, GIS is added advantage

    • Desirable : Candidates with experience in Software development using OO languages/ J2EE/ MS.Net / GIS database design / Client server & web architectures will be preferred. Knowledge & experience in RDMBS, UML, XML, Arc Objects and free/open source GIS products is added advantage

Age Limit:

  1. Junior Research Fellow (JRF01 to 11): 28 years as on 03.10.2014 (33 years for SC/ST and 31 years for OBC). Persons with Disabilities are eligible for age relaxation as per Govt. of India orders.
  2. Research Scientist (RS01 to RS02): 35 years as on 03.10.2014 (40 years in case of SC/ST candidates and 38 years for OBC candidates). Persons with Disabilities are eligible for age relaxation as per Govt. of India orders. Ex-servicemen are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India orders on the subject.

Emoluments:

  1. JRF recruited with M.Sc : `16,000/- per month for the 1st and 2nd years and  `18,000/- for the subsequent years.
  2. JRF recruited with ME/M.Tech `18,000/- per month for the 1st and 2nd years and `20,000/- for the subsequent years.
  3. Research Scientists 15,600-39,100 (PB3) with GP of `5400/- + DA, HRA as per Govt.of India norms.

The application format for on-line registration is available in the above website from 1000 hours on 13.09.2014 to 1700 hours on 03.10.2014. The applicant has to provide (mandatory) E-mail ID for future correspondence/reference.
  2. The qualifications prescribed in this advertisement are the minimum requirement and the same does not automatically make candidates eligible to be called for interview. There will be an initial screening based on the academic performance and other parameters given in the on-line applications and only those screened-in will be shortlisted for interview. The call letters for the interview to the short- listed candidates will be sent only by e-mail.

General Conditions:

  1. Applications made on-line only will be entertained. Physical applications will not be entertained.
  2. NRSC/ISRO reserves the right not to fill up all or any of the positions, if it so decides.
  3. Junior Research Fellows will be engaged initially for ONE YEAR and is extendable for further periods based on assessment of their work and requirements of project. The maximum period of engagement of Junior Research Fellow shall not exceed four years. The fellowship will not confer any claim or right for regular appointment in any of ISRO/DOS Centres.
  4. Research Scientist positions are purely TEMPORARY and depend upon project requirements/duration. Maximum period of engagement of Research Scientists shall not exceed three years. It may be noted that the Research Scientists positions do not carry any claim whatsoever for regular appointments in NRSC/ISRO/DOS.
  5. Candidates called and attended for interview shall be reimbursed to and fro second-class train fare by the shortest route from the address given in the application to the place of interview.
  6. Candidates called for interview will have to produce all relevant original documents in proof of details furnished in the on-line application along with a set of self-attested photocopies. Candidates who are already employed under Central/State Government, Public Sector Undertakings or Autonomous Bodies have to produce the ‘No Objection Certificate’, in original, at the time of interview. In case the candidate fails to produce any of the above documents or if any information furnished in the application is found to be wrong or false, the candidate will not be interviewed and TA will not be paid.
