University of Kalyani invites applications in eight (8) copies (One in prescribed form, along with seven photocopies of it) from eligible Indian citiz ens for the for the following substantive teaching posts (Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors ) in various departments of the University.

Application forms will be available at the Directorate of Recruitment, 1st Floor, Administrative Building of the University on week days from 11: 30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during 05.09.2014 – 25.09.2014 by paying application fee of Rs.1,000/- for the posts of Professors; Rs.800/- for the posts of Associate Professors and Rs.700/- for the posts of Assistant Professors in cash (not  refundable) at the cash counter of the University. SC/ST candidates are to pay one fourth of the application fees, for which they will have to produce relevant certificates from the appropriate authority at the time of collecting fo rms. Application form may also be downloaded from the University website (www.klyuniv.ac.in)  during the aforesaid period. In such cases the application fee is to be deposited along with the filled up application form by a/c payee bank draft of any national ized bank drawn in favour of ‘University of Kalyani’ payable at Kalyani. An application fee of US dollar ($) 100 in the form of a/c payee bank draft of any scheduled bank drawn in favour of ‘University of Kalyani’ payable at Kalyani shall accompany down lo aded application forms sent from foreign countries. Last date of submission and receiving of filled up application forms is 25.09.2014.

  5. Preferred Age: Professor: Not more than 50 years; Associate Professor: Not more than 45 years; Assistant Professor: Not more than 37 years. Note: Upper age limit is relaxable as per existing norms.
  6. Pay Scales: Scales of Pay and other admissible allowances for Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor are as per State Government Orders
  7. Minimum qualifications for posts belonging to Arts, Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce, Education, Physical Education, Environmental Management & ICEE and Languages: [See also 4(a) to 4(c)]
    • Professor : A. (i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality, active ly engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers. (ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of supervising candidates for research at doctoral level. (iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching-learning process. (iv) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based on Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the UGC Regulation 2010. [See 5(d)]. B. An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the r elevant field, who has made significant contributions to knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, to be substantiated by credentials.
    • Associate Professor : (i) Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relev ant disciplines. (ii) A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). (iii) A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers. (iv) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology–mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having supervised doctoral candidates. (v) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based on Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the Regulation UGC Regulation, 2010. [See 5(d)].
    • Assistant Professor : (i) Overall good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. (ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the can didate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET. (iii) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub -clauses (i) and (ii) above, candidates who have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. (iv) NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.
  8. Minimum Qualifications for Posts belonging to Management / Business Administration:[See also 4(a) and 4(b)]
    • Associate Professor : i. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is follo wed) in Master’s Degree in Business Management / Administration / in a relevant management related discipline or first class in two years full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU / recognized by the AICTE / UGC; OR First Class graduate and professionally qualified Chartered Accountant / Cost and Works Accountant / Company Secretary of the concerned statutory body. ii. Ph.D. or Fellow of Indian Institute of Management or of an Institute recognized by AICTE and declared equivalent by the AIU. iii. A minimum of eight years’ experience of teaching / industry / research / professional at managerial level excluding the perio d spent for obtaining the research degree. OR iv. In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following requirements shall constitute as essential requir ements: 1. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in Master’s Degree in Business Management / Administration / in a relevant management related dis cipline or first class in two years full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU / recognized by AICTE / UGC, OR First Class graduate and professionally qualified Chartered Accountant / Cost and Works Accountant / Company Secretary of the concerned statutory body. 2. A minimum of ten years experience of teaching/ industry / research / profession, out of which five years must be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent excluding the period spent for obtaining research degree. The candidate should have Professional work experience, which is significant and can be recognized at national / international level as equivalent to Ph.D. and ten years managerial experience in industry / profession of which at least five years should be at the level comparable to that of lecturer / assistant professor. v. Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered de sirable: a) Teaching, research, industrial and/or professional experience in a reputed organization; b) Published work, such as research papers, patents filed / obtained, books and/or technical reports; and c) Experience of guiding the project work / dissertation of PG / Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry.
    • Assistant Professor : (i) Essential: 1. First Class Masters Degree in Business Management / Administration / in a relevant management related discipline or first class in two year full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU / accredited by the AICTE / UGC; 2. First Class graduate and professionally qualified Charted Accountant / Cost and Works Accountant / Company Secretary of the conc erned statutory bodies. (ii) Desirable: 1. Teaching, research, industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization; 2. Papers presented at Conferences and / or published in refereed journals.
  9. Minimum Qualifications for Posts belonging to Engineering and Technology : [See also 4(a) and 4(b)]
    • Professor : i. Essential: 1. A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech., and experience of ten years i n teaching, research and /or industry, out of which at least five years at the level of Assistant Professor Reader or equivalent grade. OR ii. In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following shall constitute as essential: 1. First Class Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech. 2. Significant professional work which can be recognized* as equivalent to a Ph.D. D egree in appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech., and industrial/professional experience of ten years, out of which at least five years at a senior level of Assistant Professor/Reader. Provided that the recognition for significant professional work shall be valid only if the same is recommended unanimously by a 3 -member Committee of Experts appointed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University. iii. Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable: 1. Teaching, research industrial and /or professional experience in a reputed organization;  2. Published work, such as research papers, patents filed /obtained, books, and /or technical reports; 3. Experience of guiding the project work/d issertation of PG/Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry; 4. Demonstrated leadership in planning and organizing academic, research, industrial and /or professional activities; and 5. Capacity to undertake/lead sponsore d R&D, consultancy and related activities.
    • Associate Professor : (i) Essential: A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech., and experience of eight years in teaching, research and / or industry at the level of Lecturer or equivalent grade, excluding period spent on obtaining the research degree. (ii) In the event of a candidate from industry and the professional field, the following shall be deemed essential: 1. First Class Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech.; 2. Significant professional work which can be recognized as equivalent to a Ph.D. Degree in the appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech., and industrial / professional experience of eight years in a position equivalent to the level of Lecturer. It is to be noted that the recognition for significant professional experience shall be valid only if the same is recommended unanimously by a 3 -Member Committee of Experts appointed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University. (iii) Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable: 1. Teaching, research, industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization;  2. Published work, such as rese arch papers, patents filed / obtained, books, and / or technical reports; 3. Experience of guiding the project work / dissertation of PG / Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry.
    • Assistant Professor : (i) Essential: First Class Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering & Technology . (ii) Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable: 1. Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reput ed organization; 2. Papers presented at Conferences and / or in refereed journals.

Additional information to Candidates:

  1. Above mentioned minimum qualifications are subject to modification by the UGC/State Government from time to time.
  2. A relaxation of 5% in the marks may be provided at the graduate and master’s level for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/Differently -able (Physically as well as Visually) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to the posts. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without includin g any grace marks and/or rounding off procedures. A relaxation of 5% in the marks may be provided (i.e. from 55% to 50%) to the Ph.D. degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19 September, 1991.
  3. For the post of Physical Education, NCTE Regulation, incorporated in UGC Regulation 2010, also will be applicable.
  4. Minimum API score of 300 and 400 [from Category III as per UGC Regulation 2010 (vide No. F.3-1/2009, dt. 30 June, 2010, published in The Gazette of India, September 18, 2010), i.e., Research, Publication and Academic Contributions] is required for recruitment to the posts of Associate Professors and Professors respectively . [To be submitted by the candidate (in eight copies, one with each copy of the filled up Application Form) in UGC prescribed format (4 pages) only supplied by the University along with Application Forms.]
  5. The University may relax, if so recommended by the Selection Committee on specific grounds, the stipulations regarding qualifications in case of candidates poss essing exceptionally good academic records and / or outstanding capabilities of teaching / research.
  6. Appointments will be made on probation for one year , which may be waived or extended in exceptional cases and will be guided by the rules as framed and / o r amended by the University from time to time.
  7. The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview.
  8. If the qualification possessed by the candidate is equivalent, t hen the authority under which it has been so treated must be indicated and document(s) must be produced.
  9. Candidates should clearly note that the University will in no case be responsible for non – receipt of application forms by the University and/or non-receipt of interview letter by the candidate, for postal delay or for any other reason whatsoever. Application received after the prescribed last date will not be entertained under any circumstances and all such applications will be summarily rejected.
