Vidyasagar University invites application from the eligible Indian Nationals on the prescribed form available in  the University website for the post of (01) Professor1 (02) Associate Professor/ (03) Assistant Professor/ (04)  Assistant Professor(Purely on Contract Basis) (OS) Senior Superintendent/ (06) Junior Assistant, (07) Helper Gr. – 1111 (08) Junior Sweeper and (09) Junior Peon on or before 18.08.2014 with Bank Draft in favour of “Vidyasagar University ” payable at Midnapore of<. 800/- for Sl. No. 01 & 02, <. 6001- for SI. No. 03 & 04, <. 400/- for SI. No. 05 to 09.   1. Professor of Physics: 1 (One) Post (Reserved for SC).
    • Pay Band:~ 37,400- 67,000/- +Academic Grade Pay~ 10,000/- and other allowances as admissible.
    • Specialization: Open (Preferable: Theoretical Physics Research background)
    • Minimum Eligibility Criteria: a. An eminent scholar with consistently good academic record and a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/ allied/ relevant discipline with a number of high quality research publications in reputed journals and/or publication of books. b. At least 10 years’ experience in University/College and/or experience in research in University/ reputed research institutions/industries. c. Research guidance of doctoral students.
    • Additional Experiences : a. Contribution to education innovation, design of new curricula and courses and use of modern technology in teaching-learning process. c. An outstanding professional with established reputation in the relevant field and who has made significant contribution to the knowledge in th~ concerned/allied/relevant discipline may also be considered for appointment as Professor.
  2.  Associate Professor in (a) Applied Mathematics with Oceanology and Computer Programming: 1 (One) Post (Unreserved- Exempted Category),
    • Pay Band: ~ 37,400- 67,000/- +Academic Grade Pay~ 9,000/- and other allowances as admissible.
    • Specialization: (a)Dynamical Oceanology I Dynamical Meteorology I Fluid Dynamics.
    • Minimum Eligibility Criteria : a. Good academic record with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines. b. A Master’s degree in concerned/allied/relevant disciplines with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). c. At least a second class “Three Years” Bachelor’s Degree with Honours/Major in the relevant/allied subject. d. A minimum of 8 (eight) years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or reputed research institution/industry with a number of good quality publications in reputed journals and/or publication of books.
    • Additional Experiences : a. Contribution to education innovation, design of new curricula and courses and use of modern technology in teaching-learning process. b. Guidance of Ph.D. students/research projects.
  3. Assistant Professor in (a) History: 1 (One) Post(Reserved for SC), (b) Anthropology :2 (Two) posts (One reserved for SC and One Unreserved)
    • Pay Band:~ 15,600-39,100/- +Academic Grade Pay~ 6,000/- and other allowances as admissible.
    • Specialization for: (a) Open (b) Physical I Biological Anthropology for SC category and Social and Cultural Anthropology for Unreserved category
    • Minimum Eligibility Criteria: a. Cood academic record as defined by the concerned University with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Masters Degree level in a relevant subject. b. At least a second class ‘Three Years’ Bachelor’s Degree with Honours/Major in the relevant/allied subject. c. l11e candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC/CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like NET/SET. d. However, the candidates who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 shall be exempted from the requirement of the Minimum Eligibility Condition of NET/SLET/SET. e. NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters programme in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted. f. A relaxation of 5% in the marks may be provided for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/ Differently abled (physically as well as visually) categories (i) at the Masters level required to satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria. (ii) for assessing good academic record throughout the candidate’s career. The marks in each case mean the qualifying marks without any grace marks and/or rounding off procedures.
    • A relaxation of 5% may be provided for the minimum eligibility marks of 55% at the Master level to the Ph.D. degree holders who have obtained their Masters degree prior to September 19, 1991 h. Maximum age will be determined by the University authority.
  4. Assistant Professor (Purely on Contract Basis) in Sociology: 1(0ne) Post
    • Consolidated Salary:~. 21,600/- plus other allowances as admissible (per month)
    • Minimum Eligibility Criteria: As per the UGC norms stated in Sl. No.3
    • Senior Superintendent: 1 (One) Post (Unreserved- Exempted Category):
    • Pay Band:~ 9,000- 28,300/- +Grade Pay~ 4,600/- and other allowances as admissible.
    • 9ualification and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 8(eight) years relevant experience as Senior Assistant or its equivalent level. Knowledge of Computer Application and exposure to Office procedure like maintenance of Files, Noting and Drafting etc. are essential. Preference will be given to the candidates having experience in University or Higher learning Institutions. Age relaxation is also applicable those who are working in Vidyasagar University system.
    • Age: 18- 40 years as on 30.06.2014
  5. Junior Assistant: 2 (Two) Posts ( One for OBC-B Exempted Category and One Reserved forST):
    • Pay Band: ~ 7,200- 25,400/- +Grade Pay ~ 3,300/- and other allowances as admissible.
    • Qualification and Experience: Higher Secondary (10+2) I Pre-University or its equivalent and Diploma in computer application of MS Word, MS excel, MS Power Point etc.
    • Desirable: Exposure to office procedure like maintenance of files, Noting, Drafting etc.
    • Age: 18-40 years as on 30.06.2014
  6. Helper Gr. III: 1 (One) Post (Unreserved- Ex-serviceman in Group- C post):
    • Pay Band:~ 5,400- 18,600/- +Grade Pay~ 1,800/- and other allowances as admissible.
    • Qualification and Experience: Class VIII standard
    • Desirable: Preference will be given to experienced person
    • Age: 18-40 years as on 30.06.2014
  7. Junior Sweeper: 2 (Two) Posts (One for OBC-A- Ex-serviceman in Group- D post and One Reserved for ST)
    • Pay Band: ~ 5,400- 18,600/- +Grade Pay~ 1,800/- and other allowances as admissible.
    • Qualification and Experience: Class VIII standard.
    • Desirable: Preference will be given to experienced person.

  8. Junior Peon: 1 (One) Post (Reserved for OBC-A Exempted Category):

General Instructions:

  1. Downloaded application form available in the University website (www.vidyasagar.ac.in).
  2. Bank Draft in favour “Vidyasagar University” payable at Midnapore of ~ 8001- for Sl. No. 1 and 2, ~ 600 for Sl. No.3 & 4 and~ 4001- for SI. No.5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.
  3. Completed Application in all aspects should be sent to The Registrar, Vidyasagar University, Midnapore-721102, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal latest by 18.08.2014. The University will not be responsible for any postal delay.
  4. Minimum qualification and scale .of pay for the teaching posts as per UGC Regulation – 2010 & State Govt. rules.
  5. Initially the appointment will be made for a period of 1(0ne) year. Based on the performance they may be regularized in the post.
  6. In case of Contractual positions, appointment will be made initially for a period of 1(one) year and the said contract may be renewed further based on the satisfactory performance in the contract period.
  7.  Persons employed in Government I Semi Government Organizations I Autonomous Bodies should submit their application through proper channel. They may, however, send an advance copy of the application. ‘· Those who are unable to process their application through proper channel may submit ‘No Objection Certificate (NOC)’ from present employer during the time of interview. However, they should submit an undertaking to that effect. Direct application from such candidates will not be entertained.
  8. Age relaxationfor SCISTIOBCs and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) is applicable as per Government norms. Age relaxation is also applicable those are working in Vidyasagar University system.
  9. Candidates should submit their SCISTIOBCsiDisability Certificate issued by Competent Authority in the prescribed format along with the application form, in support of their claim.
  10. The University reserves the right to relax experience in exceptional cases, or in the case of persons already holding analogous positions in a University or Research Institution.
  11. The University reserves the right of rejecting any or all the applications without assigning any reasons thereof.
  12. Candidates applying for more than one post may apply separately for each post.
  13.  Mere eligibility will not vest any right on any candidate for being called for interview. The decision of the University in all matters will be final.
