Visva-Bharati, an institution of national importance, invites applications from Indian nationals for the following Faculty positions:

PAY SCALES :

      1. Professor : PB-4, Rs. 37,400-67,000 with AGP Rs.10000/-

PROFESSOR

      1. Essential Qualification for Sl. No. 1 to 10. A. (i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published  work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research papers. (ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college and/or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level. (iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process. (iv) A minimum score (400 points) as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), as per UGC norms. OR B. An outstanding professional** with established reputation in the relevant field who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, to be substantiated by credentials.
      2. Desirable Qualification for Sl. No. 3 Specialization in International Relations / Political Science / Social Cultural Anthropology / Rural Development & Rural Reconstruction.
      3. Essential Qualification for Sl. No. 11 A. A Master’s degree in Science/ Humanities/ Arts, Commerce and M.Ed (from institution recognized by the NCTE) each with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). OR M.A in Education with at least of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and B.Ed with a minimum of 55% marks(or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) B. (i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D in Education and published work of high quality actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/ or research/policy papers in Education. (ii)A minimum of ten years of teaching experience at Master’s Degree level in University Department of Education/College of Education and/or experience in research at the University / National Level Institutions including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level. (iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and Technology/mediated teaching learning process. (iv) A minimum score (400 points) as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) as per UGC norms. OR An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the field of Education, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the discpline of Education, to be substantiated by credentials.5
      4. Note : UGC norms regarding Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) will be available along with application form. Candidate shall provide total scores in the appropriate positions of the application form.(Supporting documents should be enclosed for calculation of API Scores) A person shall be under category of “An outstanding professional” subject to satisfaction of following criteria: (a) He/She must be the recipient of National/International Awards/Fellowships. (b) He/She must have participation in National/International Seminars/Conferences/ Workshops. (c) He/She must have significant contributions in the field of research and development. (d) He/She must have twelve years of outstanding performing achievements in the relevant field. (e) He/She must have the ability to explain the logical reasoning of the subject concerned and adequate knowledge to teach.
      5. Essential Qualification for Sl. No. 12 An eminent scholar with a doctoral degree actively engaged in research with ten years of experience in teaching and /or research at the University/National level institutions including experience of guiding research in doctoral level, with outstanding performing achievement in the field of specialization. OR A Professional artist with highly commendable professional achievement in the concerned subject, who should have: 1. Twelve years of experience of holding regular regional/ national exhibition / workshops with evidence; 2. Significant contributions in the field of specialization and ability to guide research; 3. Participation in National/International Seminars/Conferences/ Workshops and/or recipient of National/International Awards/ Fellowships; and 4. Ability to explain the logical reasoning of the subject concerned and adequate knowledge to teach theory with illustrations in that discipline.
      6. Essential qualification for Sl. no. 13 An eminent scholar with a doctoral degree and actively engaged in research with ten years of experience in teaching in University/College and/or research at the University /National level institutions including experience of guiding research at doctoral level with outstanding performing achievements in the field of specialization. OR A traditional and a professional artist with highly commendable professional achievement in the concerned subject, who should be or have: (a) ‘A’ grade artist of AIR/TV; (b) Twelve years of outstanding performing achievements in the field of specialization;6 (c) Significant contributions in the field of specializations and ability to guide research; (d) Participation in National/ International Seminars/ Conferences/ Workshops and/ or recipient of National/International Awards/Fellowships; and (e) Ability to explain the logical reasoning of the subject concerned and adequate knowledge to teach theory with illustrations in that discipline.
      7. Desirable Qualification for Sl. No. 13 Sound knowledge of history and theory of Hindusthani Classical Music. Ability to train students for composite programme.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

      1. Essential Qualification for post Sl. No. 14 A. A Master’s degree in Arts/Humanities/Science, commerce and M.Ed (from institution recognized by the NCTE) each with a minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent degree in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). OR M.A in Education and B.Ed each with at least of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). B. (i) Good academic record with a Ph.D in Education. (ii) A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching (of which minimum of three years at Master’s Degree level in Education) in University Department of Education / College of Education and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or accredited research institution excluding the period of Ph.D research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as Books and / or research/policy papers in Education. (iii) Contribution to Educational Innovation, design of new curricula and courses and technology-mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students. (iv) A minimum score of 300 points as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) as per UGC norms.
      2. Desirable Qualification for post Sl. No. 14 : A Master Degree in Life Science with specialization in ICT
      3. Essential Qualification for post Sl. No. 15-29 i. Good academic record* as defined by the University with a Ph.D. degree in concerned/ allied/ relevant discipline. ii. A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). (Note : for Sl. No. 29 : Masters Degree in Humanities/Languages/Fine Arts/Performing Arts/Music or allied subjects.)7 iii. A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/ industry excluding the period of Ph.D research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers. iv. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students. v. A minimum score (300 points) as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), as per UGC regulations. Note:- (i) UGC norms regarding Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) will be available along with application form. No. 27, Selection Committee may consider applicants for the post of Associate Professor or Assistant Professor depending upon Qualification, Experience etc.
      4. Desirable Qualification for Sl. No. 15 Out of three posts, desirable qualification for one post is one year academic experience in China and knowledge of Chinese History, Society and Culture.
      5. Desirable Qualification for Sl. No. 18 Specialization in Modern Indian History.
      6. Desirable Qualification for Sl. No. 24 Ph.D Degree in Environmental Studies/ Chemistry/ Physics/ Earth Sciences with specialization in Environmental Chemistry/ Environmental Physics as evidenced by publications in peerreviewed journals.
      7. Desirable Qualification For Sl. No. 28 Candidate should have specialization in Entomology.
      8. Desirable Qualification for Sl. No. 29 Demonstrated teaching or research in Tagore Studies. Apart from proficiency in Bangla or English languages, some exposure towards foreign languages is desirable to promote the international stature of Rabindra Bhavana.
      9. Essential Qualification for post Sl. No. 30 & 31 i. Good academic record with doctoral degree, with performing ability of high professional standard. ii. Eight years of experience of teaching in a University / College and/ or research in University / national level institutions excluding the period spent for the research degree of M.Phil./ Ph. D. iii. Has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the subject concerned as evidenced by quality of publications. iv. Contributions to educational innovation such as: designing new courses and/ or curricula and/or outstanding performing achievements in the field of specializations. OR v. A Professional artist with highly commendable professional achievement in the concerned subject, who should have: 1. A recognized artist of his/her own discipline; 2. Eight years of outstanding performing achievements in the field of specialization; 3. Experience in designing of new courses and /or curricula; 4. Participation in Seminars/Conferences in reputed institutions; and 5. Ability to explain the logical reasoning of the subject concerned and adequate knowledge to teach theory with illustrations in that discipline.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

      1. Essential Qualification for post Sl. No. 32 i. Good academic record* as defined by the university with Master’s Degree in Philosophy and M.Ed.(from Institution recognized by the NCTE) each with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an Indian University, or equivalent degrees from an accredited foreign University. ii. The candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET in Education. Or, The candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in Education in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phill/ Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009.
      2. Essential Qualification for post Sl. No. 33 i. Good academic record* as defined by the university with Master’s Degree in Physical Science and M.Ed.(from Institution recognized by the NCTE) each with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an Indian University, or equivalent degrees from an accredited foreign University. ii. The candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET in Education. Or, The candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in Education in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of  M.Phill/ Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009.
      3. Essential Qualification for Sl. No. 34 A. i. Good academic record* as defined by the university with Master’s Degree in Music(Rabindra Sangit) and M.Ed.(from Institution recognized by the NCTE) each with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an Indian University, or equivalent degrees from an accredited foreign University. ii. The candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET in Education/Music. Or,9 The candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in Education/Music in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phill/ Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009. OR, B. A traditional and professional artist with highly commendable professional achievement in the concerned subject, who should have: (a) Studied under noted/ reputed traditional masters and has thorough knowledge to explain the subject concerned; (b) A high grade artist of AIR/ TV; and (c) Ability to explain the logical reasoning of the subject concerned and adequate knowledge to teach theory with illustrations in that discipline.
      4. C. Desirable Qualification for Sl. No. 34 Specialization in Rabindra Sangit.
      5. Essential Qualification for Sl. No. 35 i. Good academic record* as defined by the university with M.Sc. Degree in Agriculture(Horticulture)/Horticulture with basic Degree in Agriculture with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an Indian University, or equivalent degrees from an accredited foreign University. ii. The candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC/CSIR, or similar test accredited by the UGC/CSIR like SLET/SET. Or, The candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in Horticulture/Agriculture in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phill/ Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009.
      6. Desirable Qualification for Sl. No. 35 Experience of teaching and conducting practical classes of Horticulture.
      7. Essential Qualification for Sl. No. 36 i. Good academic record* as defined by the university with Master’s Degree in Bengali and M.Ed(from Institution recognized by NCTE) each with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an Indian University, or equivalent degrees from an accredited foreign University. ii. The candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET in Education. Or, The candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in Education in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phill/ Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009.
      8. Essential Qualification for post Sl. No. 37 to 47 i. Good academic record* as defined by the University with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at Master’s Degree level in relevant subject or an equivalent degree from an Indian/ Foreign University. (For Sl. No. 47, 10 out of two posts essential qualification for one post is Master’s Degree in Environmental Science and for other is Master’s Degree in Geography) ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) for lecturers conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET. iii. Notwithstanding anything contained in the sub-clauses. (i) and (ii) to Clause 4.4.2.1 of UGC Regulation-2010, candidates, who are, or have been awarded Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities / Colleges /Institutions. iv. NET/SLET/SET shall not be required for Masters Programmes in such disciplines also for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.
      9. Desirable Qualification For Sl. No. 37(for ST reserved post) Diploma in Coaching of minimum one year duration from a recognized Institution or having participated at least at Inter-University tournaments in any game.
      10. Desirable Qualification For Sl. No. 37(for OBC reserved post) Diploma in Coaching of minimum one year duration from a recognized Institution or having participated at least at Inter-University tournaments in the game of Badminton/KhoKho/Kabadi/Handball/Hockey/Judo/Table Tenis/Tenis/Swimming.
      11. Desirable Qualification For Sl. No. 40 Specialization in Physical Chemistry at the Master’s Degree Level for SC & one UR post and specialization in Inorganic Chemistry at the Master’s Degree Level for other UR post.
      12. Desirable Qualification For Sl. No. 43 1. B.Sc.(Ag) Hons. Followed by M.Sc.(Agril. Economics) 2. Specialization in Natural Resource Economics or Agril. Business Management.
      13. Desirable Qualification For Sl. No. 46 i) Basic Degree in Agriculture or Horticulture followed by M.Sc. Degree in Floriculture & Landscaping. ii) Doctoral(Ph.D) Degree in Floriculture & Landscaping. Note : Selected candidate will have to participate Rural Agricultural Work Experience(RAWE) & Experiencial Learning(EL) under B.Sc.(Agriculture) course.
      14. Desirable Qualification For Sl. No. 47 i) For candidate with Master’s Degree in Environmental Science should have knowledge and experience in related field of Climate Studies. ii) For candidate with Master’s Degree in Geography should have knowledge in Remote Sensing and GIS applications and experience in related field of Climate Studies.11
      15. Essential Qualification for Sl. No. 48 to 50 i. Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s degree level, in the relevant subject or an equivalent degree from an Indian/Foreign University. ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) for lecturers conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or similar test accredited by the UGC. Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) to this Clause 4.4.2.3, candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree, in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities / Colleges / Institutions. iii. Without prejudice to the above, NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted. OR A Professional artist with highly commendable professional achievement in the concerned subject, who should have: 1. First class Diploma in Visual (Fine) arts discipline from the recognized Institution of India/Abroad; 2. Five years of experience of holding regular regional/National exhibitions/Workshops with evidence; and 3. Ability to explain the logical reasoning of the subject concerned and adequate knowledge to teach theory with illustrations in that discipline.
      16. Essential Qualification for Sl. No. 51 i. Good academic record* as defined by the University with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at Master’s Degree level in relevant subject or an equivalent degree from an Indian/ Foreign University. ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) for lecturers conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or similar test accredited by the UGC. Notwithstanding anything contained in the sub-clauses (i) and (ii) to Clause 4.4.2.1 of UGC Regulation-2010, candidates, who are, or have been awarded Ph. D. OR A traditional and professional artist with highly commendable professional achievement in the concerned subject, who should have: (a) Studied under noted/ reputed traditional masters and has thorough knowledge to explain the subject concerned; (b) A high grade artist of AIR/ TV; and12 (c) Ability to explain the logical reasoning of the subject concerned and adequate knowledge to teach theory with illustrations in that discipline.

General Conditions for these Recruitments :

      1. Good academic record” shall mean “securing on an average at least 55% marks in all examinations taken together prior to Master’s degree viz. Secondary Class & Higher Secondary (10 + 2) or equivalent and Honours degree stage. However, 55% marks at Master’s degree level is mandatory as per UGC norms”.
      2. Visva-Bharati reserves the right not to fill up the vacancy if circumstances so warrant.
      3. Selection for the posts may not be confined only to candidates who apply formally.
      4. Essential qualifications prescribed are the minimum and mere possession of them will not entitle applicants to be called in for interview. If the number of applications received in response to this advertisement is large and it is not convenient for the University to interview all the applicants, the number of candidates for interview may be restricted to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications and experience.
      5. Relaxation in age is allowed to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories as per UGC/Government of India norms. Relaxation in percentage of marks is allowed to candidates belonging to SC/ST categories as per UGC/GOI norms. Further, age relaxation may be considered by the University/Selection Committee to candidates already in service under Central or  State Govt/Autonomous Body/University/Private Sector/Corporate Sector/Eminent Persons.
      6. Candidates already in employment in government or government funded body shall apply through proper channel or produce ‘ No objection Certificate’ at the time of interview.

      8. Selected candidates will be given M.Phil and Ph. D increments as per UGC norms.
      9. Selected candidates have to reside within the territorial jurisdiction of the University as declared in the Visva-Bharati Act, 1951.

      11. Candidates must fulfill essential qualification/ experience on the last date for receipt of application. All qualifications must have been obtained from Universities/Institutes which are approved/recognition by UGC/MHRD.

      4. Prescribed application fee in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of Accounts Officer, Visva-Bharati payable at Santiniketan should be sent along with the filled in application.
      5. Application fee :
        • For posts with AGP of Rs 9000 and 10,000/- : Rs. 800/-
        • For posts with AGP of Rs. 6000/- : Rs. 400/-
      6. SC/ST, Women candidates and Differently Abled are exempt from above application fee. Attested copy of certificate issued by appropriate authority is to be submitted by Differently Abled candidate for such concession/exemption.
