Project Veterinarian:

The Institute wishes to engage services of competent veterinary professional for providing technical assistance in the activities of the Institute. Engagement of the Project Veterinarian is purely of temporary nature and co-terminus with the project. It does not imply any assurance of guarantee for subsequent employment in the institute. No claim for permanency or subsequent absorption in the Institute will be entertained. The engagement will initially for the period of one year which may further be extended for the period of one year based on the Institute’s need and the performance by the project veterinarian.

Essential Qualifications Candidate must possess a M.V.Sc. (Surgery, Medicine, Microbiology, Pathology, Wildlife Health)/M.Sc. (Wildlife Science) Degree and should have veterinary background (B.V. Sc.) from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualifications 3 year work experience in field of animal capture, wildlife ecology, population management and understanding of management of animals in distress.

Good writing, publishing and documentation skills.

Emoluments Consolidated Rs, 50,000/- per month (All Inclusive). Tax deduction at source (TDS) as applicable would be made.
Age Limit Not more than 40 years as on 1st July, 2014.


Task for the Project Veterinarian:

  1. Assist in wild animal capture and restraint operations/ rescue operations/ field activities based on request received from State wildlife agencies/ NTCA or as per the need.
  2. Assist the faculty of Dept. of Wildlife Health Management in organizing capacity building workshops/ training programs for various state wildlife agencies.
  3. Assist in ongoing projects/activities of the Dept. of Wildlife Health Management
  4. Develop teaching and training documents for various courses as well as those required by the Institute.
  5. Carry out duties as assigned by the Institute. 

Mode of Engagement

Box # 18, Chandrabani, Dehradun, Uttarakhand on or before 31st August 2014. The shortlisted candidates may have to appear for a screening test (to test their proficiency in Wildlife Sciences) and those qualifying the written test would be interviewed.
